Why Should You Document all Your Work-Related Injuries?

In many cases, employees are injured and attention is put on where the body part that hurt the most. Many times, the minor bruises and pains from other body parts are left untreated and ignored. When you provide notice to your employer, doctor, and Maryland Workers Compensation Commission, it is critical to report all bruised, pain, or swollen body part even if it appears minor at the time of the work-related injury. Your body is all connected. For example, if you fall, you may use your hands to lessen the impact which can cause arm and shoulder pain, and you may land on your knee. Suppose you injured your back, you may have nerve damage and/or pain on your back which you may feel it in your legs where the pain can shoot down to your legs where you may feel the pain and/or numbness with your legs. You may not feel the pain when the injury occurred, but it can occur sometime in the near future. You may require medical attention if these body parts become worse over time. You believe you can bear or deal with the pain without medical treatment, but as time will tell that you are wrong. Your body is telling you something else. Your body is telling you that you feeling the pain even more. The most important thing you can do is to document all the necessary injuries in a Maryland workers’ compensation claim to list any and all body parts that was affected in the accident no matter how insignificant you may believe it is. It would be very hard to prove and convince an insurance company and then a Maryland Workers Compensation Commission that another body part was also injured at the same accident if there is nothing documented at the time of the accident or a few days later.

The Information in the Injury Report is Very Critical in Evaluating Your Workers’ Compensation Claim

Your workers’ compensation claim form, and any form you are given at every medical appointment you visit after the work-related accident that there is a rule that is important to remember when filling out your accident report at work. We constantly review hospital emergency room reports where an injured body part is not included in the report or the incorrect body part is discussed in the medical records. As everyone know, hospitals have tons of business and many people are waiting to get treated, so not everything is always documented with 100% accuracy. Yet, insurance companies know this and they will use this tactic against the injured person to discredit you and your injury as well as the cause of the injury. It is critical that you check how the accident or work-related injured occurred and any and all injuries are clearly and precisely documented and described leaving no doubt of what body parts are injured such as the shoulder, back, neck, leg, knee, and/or any other body parts. Be certain that you communicate with the medical profession or your doctor that you have pain and/or discomfort with every ache at which body part. How you feel due to the accident.
